I'm currently playing with The Eric Stuart Band as well as co-producing his new album. I enjoy doing shows as an opening act or headliner but kicking around the club scene isn't really for me.
Music that I appreciate is song based. I like good songs with smart lyrics. I'm also taken by certain music because of the feel it offers, or guitar licks that move me. My favorite all time bands were The Beatles, Led Zep, The Eagles/Henley, Hank Wiliams Sr.
I use a1965 Fender Bandmaster with a 2-12 Bandmaster bottom but also use a 1965 Fender Bassman head (for more watts), a 1965 Vox AC-30, a 1960 Fender Tremolux, a Mesa Boogie MkIIc+, a 1964 Gibson Explorer, and a modified Epiphone Valve JR. Also, in the armory is a Roland Jazz chours, a Yamaha GA1000, and a Gallien Krueger, an original Huges and Kettner Tubeman, and original SansAmp
My current guitars - '52 Fender Tele, '65 Epiphone Casino, and a '76 Gibson Les Paul. I also record with a Gibson '56 RI Les Paul with P-90s, Rickenbacker 360 or a mid-85s Strat with a floyd rose, and 1986 gold top PRS. Acoustics are Guild 12-string, Guild D50, and for live Ovation Balladeer 6 & 12 strings, Yamaha G230 Classical nylon string
I've also play a Custom Made double neck electric guitar (12 string / 6 string) that I built. It's very heavy so it only gets used occasionally and mostly for recording. It's designed with individual outputs for the 6 and 12 so that different amps can be used for each sound (dirty for the 6 string and clean & bright for the 12 string).
I usually mic my amps with ribbon mics to smooth out the top end and give it "the sound".
I just got hold of a ZB Custom D20 pedal steel guitar. It's a new animal with 8 pedals and 4 levers.
New CD due out in mid-2008 started out as a experiment in vintage recording concepts but the music was fun so I wrote a bunch of new songs specifically for it. A few teasers can be heard on Myspace.com.questarwelsh
