SelahDru was born and raised in Brooklyn New York. He was exposed to two different cultures from Puerto Rico to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Saint Croix. Spending endless hours in front of the record player listening to all genres of music from latin jazz, salsa, hip-hop and R&B. Selah was attracted to hip-hop in particular being surrounded by it most of the time growing up in Brooklyn in New York. After being raised in the big city for most of his childhood, he was relocated along with his parents to the island of Puerto Rico, at that time he was only 14 years old. It was in Puerto Rico where he developed his ear for music and started to dabble with dj equipment and the art of mixing and audio engineering. Once he graduated high school in Puerto Rico, he attended one of the top schools in the country to study production and engineering at the Institute of Audio Research in Manhattan, New York in 1997. After mastering his skills in the technical side of the musical art he got involved with local labels based in New York where he developed his unique style as a producer and artist. After a few years in the big city, Selah moved to Tampa, Florida in 2003 where he started the record label 2ice-Born Records and inked a one year distribution deal with Avista/Universal in 2005. Soon after the contract expired with one reggaeton album released by artist Mesianico, SelahDru focused solely on producing. Since then, SelahDru has worked with many different artists such as Soul P, Sharp Skills, DJ Morphiziz, Willie Will and many more artists around the nation.
SelahDru is also represented by Grammy nominated producer Ric "Form" Robbins of Incorporated Elements, where he will be managed and exposed to the various markets for film/tv and mainstream artists/labels worldwide. He will continue to supply innovative music for artists across the country stamping SelahDru as the next go-to producer for that new sound. Currently Selah has teamed up with Soul P who is an up and coming artist out of Portland to form the company KingsEmpire Music. Soul P is gaining major buzz in the Northwest market and wrote and performed the theme song opener for the Portland Trailblazers. The best has yet to come.
