Band/artist history
Elemental Phantastix released it's first recording in 1984, entitled "Transition". Transition was intended as recorded cross-country correspondence between 2 friends in the age before email, cell phones, and instant messaging. Initailly the short noise compositions were intended as humor, but Helms became more interested in creating them and slowly developed the tapes into full recordings. Performed using a wide array of instruments such as scratched LP's, ball bearings dropped in a coffee can, a flute, a Commodore 64, laser discs, and simple tape recorders taken apart and rewired. Through the years EP gradually gave way to the band ontol.
