Sage, a music producer/artist from Chicago, IL, has been dedicated to creating music through passion. Throughout the years Sage has created an uncanny sound and style. "Music for and from the street." is how Sage describes his style of music. At times his style may be unorthodox to some, or "ahead of its time" as Sage likes to call it, but nevertheless his sound is one that you cannot help but move to. Sage is a "rough diamond" waiting for his opportunity to shine!
Band/artist history
Sage's plans to take the music world by storm began years ago when he met Johnny "Kraven" Jones at a Hip Hop open Mic in the fall of 1992. The two became very close friends, and through their mutual passion for music formed a Hip Hop crew called 40 oz Dreams. 40 oz Dreams became one of Chicago's most re-known Hip Hop crews. Together this group achieved what many can only dream of. They opened up for acts such as KRS One, Wu Tang Clan, The Beatnuts, The Liks (formerly The Alkoholiks), Souls of Mischief, and many others. Sage even wrote, and performed, a one year anniversary rap for Chicago's first commercial Hip Hop only Radio Station 950 A.M. Time passed and 40 oz Dreams began to go their separate ways. Though the group went their separate ways some of them still remained in contact occasionally. Then one day in the fall of 2000 Sage placed a call to his old friends. After a few months of pondering, and talking, the flame burned once again. Though they were still 40 oz Dreams at heart, the group decided to put their never ending passion for music together again. Sage is currently doing production for three Breaking Bread Entertainment artists. Sage is also beginning work on his first solo project. Aside from moonlighting as a human torch at fairs around the city (just kidding), Sage also does Production For Hire and CD Mastering (hintâhint).
Have you performed in front of an audience?
No. I am electronically production based. Performances are usually done to a CD with the tracks on it. Special Moment: Opened for the Alkoholics in 1994 and we challenged them to a drinking contest after the show....they declined.
Your musical influences
I grew up in a music loving home and environment so my influences are many. They range from Hip Hop and R&B, to Rock, Classical Music and Mowtown. Some of my major influences and musical heroes are: Mozart, Dr Dre, Diamond D, The Bomb Squad, Eric Vietnam Saddler, John Williams, The Ventures, 3rd Bass, Rakim, Kool G Rap, and many others.
Anything else?
If you anyone is looking for First Class Production email me. I have tons of beats in house and also custom make beats. Rates are very reasonable for exclusive use, and the best thing is that I am one of those producers who can make you some off the chain tracks without using samples! Cheaper for me and you....lol!!!
