I am a stand-alone musician for the time being. I have many ideas and few outlets. I have had dreams of music and beats and rhythms my whole life. I knew that music was my calling in life from the time I could talk. I always said I wanted to be a magician because I didnt know that wasnt the same as musician. I got a tuneable plastic guitar at 7 and then a real accoustic at 8. Then my first real electric guitar at 14. I started playing bass 11 years ago. Nothing could stop the inertia that music had started in my life.
I started writing my own music after years of listening to so many people wanting to sound like their favorite band on the radio. Well their favorite bands sucked and so did they.
To me, radio is a toxic wasteland of the mind, driven by executives and sustained by greed and immorality. So I dont listen to radio unless it is news radio.
I am currently working with several musicians on many different types of projects. At this time, I am mostly a bass player for most of my projects.
My guitar has seen better days. I am looking to upgrade soon. I havent done any writing in some time, but I keep busy.
I started writing the riffs for pieces that ended up in the songs back in 1995. At that time I was jamming with Kevin Phillips and Kevin Talley (Kevin Jr.)before he made it big time with Dying Fetus, Chimaira and Daath.
After several stints with a few local bands, I tried to do it on my own. I started jamming with a drummer (Tony Medina) and I composed many of the songs that evolved into the music that is now Three13 music.
I started recording on my pc in 2001. After a couple years of fidgeting with that, I finished my first good sounding song. And then it became easy. After several equipment and pc upgrades I can now get a good professional sounding recording.
I occassionally go to Jam sessions at my Step moms bar and play. There is nothing that compares to being up there showing everyone what is in your heart.
A special moment was watching my girlfriend perform at her very first live show. She was so scared and everything that could have gone wrong did. but they ended up kicking so much ass and even was asked by the headlining act to join their band! I was so proud of her. I gave her my microphone that night. it was her first gig... she should keep the mic....thats what I thought.
My musical influences range from Death Metal to Classical to Disco music. I like Dream Theater, Meshuggah, Mnemic, The Project Hate MCMXCIX, Death, Prong, Slayer, Arch Enemy, Judas Priest, The Cars, Devo, Adam Ant, Liquid Tension Experiment, Spastic Ink, Stanley Clarke, Rush, Primus, Black Sabbath, Elton John, Heart, Jim Croce, Jethro Tull, Nevermore, Testament, Grip Inc, Carcass and Nine Inch Nails.
