Zoot Frisbee and Company is a band from Long Beach California. The band has been together for over 10 years and has had many different members throughout this time. The members as of today are Marty Smith aka Zoot Frisbee or Zootman, Linda Smith, Ralph Barr, Maddie Sanders and Susan Lovejoy. The cd recording for "Circle Of Life" are strickly performed and recorded by Ralph and Linda Smith.
Marty Smith, a.k.a. Zoot Frisbee, was born in Ft. Worth Texas as the youngest of 3 siblings. His family moved to East Texas at the age of 4 when his father passed away. There he was introduced to the world of music and the guitar at the age of 8 when his mother re-married.
There were now 6 siblings, but Zoot was still the youngest. Once his new father had introduced him to the guitar he was hooked and has never put it down since. He has played in many bands and with hundreds of musicians while growing up and traveling around the world 2 times in the Navy. His music experience spans over 40 years. Zoot met up with a band during his travels from West Virginia called "Coast To Coast" and worked with that band around DC and West Virginia for 2 years. The band decided to make a move to California in 1984. Zoot also worked part time with another band during this time. It was an all girl band called "Precious Metal." Runner broke up 2 years later after trying to make it in LA. Zoot took advantage of his military background and went to work for Douglas Aircraft while living in Carson California. One day he met Linda, the woman that would soon become his bride, from Hermosa Beach. They were married in 1987 and moved to Long Beach. There Zoot started his music adventures in the coffeehouses locally when the coffeehouse scene just stared to boom around 1991. After meeting lots of other musicians and hosting various Open Mics he started to assemble different bands. His music consisted of over a thousand songs in all kinds of genres. This called for lots of different musical talents. At one time he had as many as 10 band members in one of his bands. This included a 2 piece brass section, a 2 piece percussion section, 1 drummer, 1 bass man, 2 guitarist, 1 violinist and 1 keyboard player. Half the band were vocalist's as well. So, today Zoot has slowed down as has the music in the coffeehouses for this area. He will be moving back to Texas with his wife and start a recording studio business. He' is still writing and producing his own music today.
We've moved to Liberty, Texas. I've retired from music performances and now play only at my church. I still make recordings and will be releasing new material in the near future....
