Regarding Please Release Me...
There is a version of Loretta lYnn and Conway Twitty (I assume it's Conway) singing as a duet. She starts out as I... "Release me..." and then uses PLEASE later to build the dynamic of the song. My interpretation is that she becomes more desparate. That is what I wanted to convey in my version.
More and perhaps MOST importantly, those old cover tunes are reverent to my own folks - who used to sing them as a couple in our family music hours. Lost of the old classics I never hear or even knew the original artists until I sat down to record them myself. So immitating the original artist becomes less relevant in that respect to me. I'm just trying to capture a bit of my own history. Unfortunately, that may upset some who are die-hard fans of the original artist.
If you have an opportunity to listen to Loretta's version, it is a nice rendition.
