Relik is a quartet that began in the summer of 2006. In April of '07 we signed to Pheyde Records, hit the studio in April and May and our full length debut CD was released on 6/1/07. Our lineup is: Jesse: guitar, vocals and keys Ryan: guitar, backup vocals Lizzie: bass Jon: drums
Band/artist history
Ryan and Jesse met in the spring of '06 at a fire dept. that they both currently still volunteer their time at. They jammed in the summer and started writing songs, Goodbye and Running being one of the first songs we wrote. Being in a town where you can find hardly any bassists, Ryan convinced his girlfriend to learn to play bass. His girlfriend, Lizzie, gladly agreed and shes our current bassist. After going through many different drummers during that fall we finally found a very talented drummer and vocalist, Sadie. We wrote alot of songs during that winter and she completed our lineup adding one of her songs to our setlist(and album) We signed to Pheyde Records in the spring and began recording our album in April. It was finished in early May and mixed by the end of the month and released in June. It's titled Into Infinity. But, in late August, we parted ways with Sadie, once again leaving us without a drummer. But, a good friend and coworker of Jesse's joined the band just recently to once again complete our lineup. Currently we are planning shows for the fall and winter seasons and writing new material for the next record. We also would like to do an unplugged CD at some point in the future.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We love to play live, mainly we play in and around our hometown of Pittsburgh and Natrona Heights. We give everything we have when we hit the stage and we want everybody in the crowd to have a good time.
Your musical influences
We are all big fans of U2 and that definitely shows in some of our songs. Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins influence our harder rock sound and Radiohead and Blue October really inspire our softer side.
What equipment do you use?
Jesse: Guitars: Ibanez Artcore Amps: Fender heads and Marshall cabs Effects: Morley Bad Horsie Wah, EH Big Muff, EH Polychorus, Ibanez Tremelo, Danelectro Phaser . Roland Keyboards Ryan: Guitar: Fender Stratocaster Amps: Marshall amps Effects: Boss ME-50 pedalboard Lizzie: Ibanez Basses and Crate amps Jon: Yamaha Drums
