Since forming in 1997, Neil Alexander & NAIL continues to be committed to the future of Jazz and improvised music. With a diverse stylistic palette and fierce musicianship, the ensemble skillfully blends modern and traditional forms with experimental concepts and electronic music. Their performance roster has included opening for John Scofield and The Blue Note in NYC, as well as many other festivals and clubs. Theyre currently touring to support their newest release CD Tugging At The Infinite, while the previous release, Galvanized, garnered many favorable reviews. The group features synthesist and keyboard wizard Neil Alexander (formerly of the Pink Floyd tribute "The Machine"), bassist Charlie Kniceley and drummer Nadav Zelnicker.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We love to perform! Playing outdoors is my favorite, but when we played the Blue Note in NY was one of those amazing moments... and, we'll be back there on July 6th!
Your musical influences
We play a combination of many different styles, held together by the glue of jazz/improvised music. In one song we can go from slammin' funk to bebop, fusion or ambient music. Keeping it interesting is our goal.
What equipment do you use?
Mainly a trio - Keys - Lots of synthesizers (Roland XV5080, Wavestation, Korg MS200, Kontakt Sampler, etc) Bass - Euphonics Audio cabinets; Micheal Tobias basses Drums - Yamaha Custom
