Hi, I'm the guitarist from the Progressive Instrumental band . I've just released my first solo effort "Abstract Expression" and I'm pleased to share the effort with you here.Band/artist history
I was born on January 15th, 1970 (MLKs birthday). After that I learned to walk and read and play soccer. In 1982 at my Mother's urging (she figured I needed a hobby I suppose) I started taking guitar lessons. For the first two years I didn't practice much and made almost no progress. Then I got a Peavey electric guitar with a "Standard" brand amplifier and started to play a little bit more. If I turned the volume (it had no gain control) and the reverb up all the way it sort of made distortion and this to my ears then made me sound very cool when I played Dio's "Rainbow in the Dark" for the neighborhood kids outside my window.Have you performed in front of an audience?I haven't played live in many years now, primarily focusing what time I can dedicate to music to writing and recording. I played with several gigging bands in High School in College and would like to get back to it again in the not too distant future.
Your musical influences
I enjoy Progressive Rock, Jazz and Classical music. My own writing tends to the former of those but I mix in a little of the latter two.
My guess is, if you enjoy Steve Morse, Rush, Marrillion and King Crimson you will probably enjoy my record.
Artists I enjoy listening to:
Änglagård, Beethoven, Miles Davis, Debussy, The Dregs, Dvorak, Echolyn, Genesis, Kansas, Mike Keneally, King Crimson, Marillion, Steve Morse, Mike Oldfield, Niacin, Charlie Parker, Rush, John Scofield, Stravinsky, Sting, and YesWhat equipment do you use?
I have 3 custom made guitars made by a Canadian Luthier named Neil Bryan. My Acoustic guitar is a Taylor Big Baby. My bass was made by a local luthier named Chris Stambaugh. I have a QS6 Synthesizer but I primarily use it as a midi controller triggering samples purchased from Sonic Implants.
My recording rig is a RNC Preamp and Compressor into a Sansamp PSA-1 into a TC Electronics G-Force. That goes straight into the PC (Sonar). For bass I bypass the TC unit.
To bang on I have a set of Premier Drums with Paiste Signature Cymbals.Anything else?
Quick note about the mp3 album available here at soundclick. There is a 15 minute track on the album called Somnium but the mp3 was over the upload limit for a standard account. So I have ommited it.
You can get the complete CD through or you can get the complete album in mp3 format (320kbps) at my .
