Two piece rock band looking for bass player, an RDU mc once called us Fossil Rock....don't know what it means but it sounded coolBand/artist history
Living Dust was formed in late 1999 among the hallowed halls of Cashmere High School, Christchurch's premier school for producing big name acts (Bic Runga, Zed, Neil Robinson) of which Living Dust is not.
Living Dust originally comprised of
Ricardo Livisone, guitar & vocals
Funky A, bass
Pixie, organ (cause Deep Purple had one)
Samuel maloney, drums
However this line up only ever managed to produce one gig, in early 2000. Which is mainly memorable for two events the first being that Pixie didn't turn up. His reason being that he was starting a new job; the more likely cause was the fact that his organ lived in his second story room and no one in the band expressed an interest in helping the diminutive Pixie in shipping it across town. The second being that the band had to kidnap Funky A from his home 20 minutes before the gig as he was grounded for a previous late night.
Pixie promptly quit and at last mention was happily married minus organ, soon followed by Funky A who left to start a career as a disc jockey in Auckland.
This gig was actually performed under the name S.A.R.J. (Samuel, Funky A, Ricardo, Jonathon/Pixie) with the change to Living Dust coming soon after half the band quitting.
Various bass players came and went until Chris Rattray front man for the metal band Hollowed (once worth checking out for their hot female bass player who was promptly fired:( ) agreed to fill in on a semi-permanent basis. This line lasted from 2000 until 2004 and was the line up that recorded the album. Chris is justifiably famous his ability to fall asleep during live gigs and for once managing to leave the stage during a fifteen minute jam make his way to the bar, consume various beverages and be back on stage for the end of the song without the band ever noticing.
From 2004 onwards the band has basically been a two piece with bass players not staying around for more than 2/3 weeks.
They did manage to audition Nick the former bass player from Tadpole but he quit due to Samuels pots and pans style of drumming, young Ryan who now plays for Radio Ron and Jessie Hewitt who may or may not still be playing for Dust & Bones.
