Recent national history has seen a Katrina ravaged New Orleans. But there are those who will tell you that destruction brings about creation. Think about the Big Bang. Something of that sort has taken place in the delta debris, with Fuego rising like a phoenix from the destruction and bringing a helluva silver lining to a grim cloud in our collective memory. Fuego will help provide a cure as it climbs its way to become a part of our national consciousness. Fuego proclaims: “This is fire so don't get burned.”
Super Glue
Fuego's sound is an artistic and seamless fusion that super glues together punk, reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, metal and hardcore. The sound is as groove-drenched and energy injected as its description indicates. Those who hear Fuego's incredible sound are blown away every time by this solar heat wave rushing them from the speakers.
Hardships
Every musician faces hardship it's part of the lifestyle. But the members of Fuego have undergone overwhelming trials to pull through the darkness and come out the other side a magnificent band with an important signature to add to the constitution of music. “With some members losing homes, instruments, gear and all past recorded work in the storm, Fuego strives to strike hard now, overcoming all adversities, FEMA trailer and all.” What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger and Fuego is rippling with strength and ready to take on the world.
Broad Appeal
Fuego boasts a musical personality that reaches out to a cornucopia of different listeners. “There is something for everyone, which makes Fuego's growing fan base a very diverse one. All of the musicians incorporate their past music experience which derives from punk, rap, DnB, metal, reggae, and dancehall.” Fuego's songs are a delightful gumbo of an eclectic bandwide musical history, all tied together around a groove-driven core that serves to create audio junkies in the listening populace.
Emotional Impact
With such a mixed palette of influences, Fuego is that much more able to express a colorful variety of emotional flourishes with its music. “Music makes us relieved, relaxed, accepted, included, excited, energized and fulfilled.” The performance payoff has a parallel in reward for the fans, who derive every bit of the joy the members of Fuego enjoy as the creators behind such dynamo songwriting. “We remove filters from our writing process that would normally exclude a certain type of music incorporated with another one in the same song. Rarely are we tying one song to one genre of music.”
Work
“2006 saw FUEGO play in front of live audiences in five different states in the south. We had a feature story on us in one of New Orleans' premiere music magazines Where Y'at, drawing interest from labels. We will tour with HR of Bad Brains in 2007 with the DIA Global Rock Showcase.” Also in 2007, Fuego will release the EP “Chocolate City Sessions Vol. 1”. Fuego is currently working with A&R Select, the leading independent A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
Reviews
“Fuego is like nothing you've ever heard, turning a teeming handful of familiar flavors into a radiant sound that's rare and powerful.” - A&R Select
" ...Fuego's live performance rings of five guys having genuine fun regardless of doctrine, an attitude that can't help but be contagious. ...Oscar's alarming riffs seeming to announce the arrival of NOLA's new gods of metal, but within seconds, Skru's island tongue cuts through expectations, straight to the fire. Darren later points to the band's further progression by trading his usual melodies for commanding raps defining Fuego as "beats and rhythms not confined to a single group."... We have been together officially for about 3 years. Matt, Oscar, and Sean have been jamming since childhood. We picked up Darin and Chill later on. It was a rocky start at first because of jobs, and other issues, but we have evolved into a professional band. We started playing at local venues around New Orleans, LA. We are slowly moving our way out of Louisiana to the southeast. Soon we will be going to New York, and LA.Have you performed in front of an audience?Locally we play at The Bar in Metaire, LA. We have been on a small southeastern tour and were ready to go world wide!
