Bite Of The Lycan (2005 demo) Bite Of The Lycan (2005 demo)
one of the earliest songs the band has written, inspired by one of the lyricist's favorite films.
"Fire to make a forge's flames cold. Cold to make winter's heart seem warm...
Filth to make a rotten cesspit smell a garden in full flower...
Let tears flow, O ye people of the world. Weep for your salvation!"
(from Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series)Band/artist history
From playing lots of Slayer covers, and band members coming and going, Gary and Butch remained from a band that struggled for survival since their highschool days.
The arrival of bassist Sherjo and drummer Pedz (also high school mates of the other two) on September 2003 completed Lavos Beckon. It was the start of a sudden change in the bands usual sound... for melody and finesse coupled with crushing rhythms dominated their musical tastes, the band altered from doing Slayer covers to more melodic types such as Iced Earth, Avantasia the Metal Opera, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and later started writing their own music.
They decided to call the band "Lavos Beckon", after Pedz gave a list of
proposed band names. "i read it and i liked how it rolled in my tongue", relates Gary. Pedz, being a comic book artist and a video game/anime fanatic, said that "Lavos Beckon" was a passage in a video game and "Lavos" had something to do with the apocalypse, destruction, and the end... Gary, being a Norse mythology fan himself, associated it with its philosophy: "Being triumphant isn't conquering one's invincible adversary, but continuing to resist the inevitable end"... screaming bloody defiance until the last breath, that is, "inviting the end", because a Nordic warrior's greatest fulfillment is to die in the battlefield and join the Aesir in the Final Day of Doom...
october 15, 2003- the last leg of the UST eliminations in the annual university band competition at Mayric's, Espana, Manila: the first time that they used the name "Lavos Beckon" officially. Lavos Beckon won that night and were the last to advance to the finals... a month later, their dreams of conquering the oldest university in asia through metal came true. Lavos Beckon won the most coveted championship as metal emerged triumphant and victorious that night ! (november 28, 2003).
december 13, 2003: Lavos Beckon's debut in the metro manila metal scene. through Ramon of Sea of Rains, the Ironworks produced Gods of Metal 5, at Potion Lounge, Intramuros. Wiith bragging rights...
