Beside the Hearth Beside the Hearth
A more traditional american sounding folk song with lots of droning open strings
Well this project originally started out as an acoustic folk project in the vein of later Empyrium or 'Kveldssanger' era Ulver, but I later decided that I needed to express my emotions through a wider spectrum of music, so I started writing black metal tracks with folk interludes. Unfortunately I only have one black metal track recorded due to problems with my recording equipment, but hopefully I will have more recorded soon.Band/artist history
Ok...
After a few years of living in Texas without any musical success, I moved back to Chicago in late Summer 2006. I had plenty of ideas in his head and wanted to get them recorded, so he called up a former bandmate, Julus Hi Chu SushiAi Shin (Junwoo "Douglas" Shin), to record.
After 3 traditional ambient acoustic songs (As the River Flows..., Autumn Rain and Beside the Hearth) recorded over a span of 3 weeks, I realized that I wanted to expand his sound to a more versatile sound. "Paternal Grief" was recorded in the 5th week of the band taking form, with Julus joining in on guitars, just because I felt bad .. This new song had elements of Doom Metal, Black Metal, and Gothic Metal added to the ambient folk roots of the band, and my true vocal ability is shown in this song.
Now with another member added to the band, I wanted to record another acoustic song, thus giving birth to "Burning Leaves," a more complex and melancholic acoustic song than the previous 3, showing the new acoustic sound.
Julus has left the band for legal reasons and will not return. He tried stealing and selling the songs I wrote.
Thanks for reading and giving us a listen!
