Heavy Metal

Since 2007, Fragmenta began whipping local crowds into a moshing frenzy with their searing brand of progressive edged thrash metal. Fragmenta spent the following years gigging intensely playing many notable shows, receiving airplay both locally and internationally and having their demos featured in several worldwide compilations. In 2011 Fragmenta released their debut album titled SEDITION; their intense thrash sound evolved even further, injected with unconventional grooves and tinged with industrial elements. With a visceral "show no mercy" delivery, the band was criticized by controversial TV program Today Tonight, noting their "dark themes" and branding them "a violent assault on the senses". SEDITION is receiving positive reviews by well known metal sites and respectable airplay while being accompanied by interviews on the air and on the web. Fragmenta is currently performing Australia-wide to promote their album and are writing material for what promises to be another powerful release.
Band/artist history
Formed in South Australia in 2007, Fragmenta made an energetic entrance into the live music scene, bringing a lively and aggressive movement among fans and fellow bands alike. They then made a solid, sonic debut with their first self-produced demoTHE FIRST ASSAULT. A straight ahead Thrash Metal attack with a melodic twist. The original lineup of current member Duncan Fisher on vocals and lead guitar, drummer Cameron Hynd, guitarist Zac Backs and bassist Mike Ward brought forth ideals and sounds that were thought to have been forgotten which resonated with a solid, working class outer suburban fanbase, but ironically forced to play in downtown CBD venues. Soon after THE FIRST ASSAULT made its way underground receiving praise from all over the world, Fragmenta was featured on two internationally released compilations as part of a movement to promote real, untamed metal mayhem. First featured in Kill City Vol: 6 with Black Master from The First Assault. In 2008 they produced the single song MERCHANTS OF DOOM which stepped up their game, showing maturity and development of a signature sound with its complex riffs and unique time signatures while retaining the unrelenting sound of thrash metal. This was featured on Downtown Metal Vol: 7. Fragmenta had a relentless string of live shows all throughout Adelaide playing with high profile bands such as Lord, Se Bon Ki Ra, Double Dragon and Truth Corroded. They also received considerable recognition for their talent, unique sound and energy from Geoff Stapleton of legendary Australian rock band Gangajjang, himself a former member of cutting edge metal band Heavy Rat, Captain Thunder and The Aliens. They also received praise from notable international metal bands. After dormancy in late 2009, Fragmenta regrouped with new members in 2010. With Sam Stretton bringing powerful, machine-like drumming, Andrew Gasson delivering a modern industrial thrash influence and Saxon Bell's heavy Venom inspired bass style, Fragmenta honed it?s industrial-edged, modern thrash sound. The band was featured on international radio stations Metal Express, Terror Zone and was featured on the Thrash or Be Thrashed online compilation, circulated internationally. After playing a string of professional, cohesive and entertaining shows in their hometown of Adelaide. in February 2011, Fragmenta began recording their first album Sedition which was released on October 11 the same year. The beggining of 2012 marked the amicable but unfortunate departure of the 2 year lineup featured on SEDITION. However, it also marked the return of original members and co-founders Zac Backs and Mike Ward. New member Damien Rompapas would has taken up the drumstool to perform Australia wide and record new material
