PICTURE OF A PHOTOGRAPH SECURES FUTURE WITH A&R SELECT
HOLLYWOOD, CA. - The next name you hear off the lips of those discussing the newest pop rock news will be Picture of a Photograph. And the nifty moniker is the least interesting thing about the band. After the name's made you do a double take, you'll be duly impressed and astounded by the catchy but weighty music.
Picture of a Photograph - which has just entrusted its musical future with Hollywood's top independent A&R firm, A&R Select is the public manifestation of the artistry of one Jon Harris. Hailing from Phoenix, AZ, Harris calls music the only place I can call home. They say home is where the heart is; in this case, the music shows where the hat's supposed to hang.
Harris is a devoted musician, dedicated to both songwriting excellence and to providing the audience with smart entertainment. Music is a second language for him and he might even describe it as his first. Says Harris, I can express myself better with music than with words.
Picture of a Photograph's upcoming release, Tell Me, will demonstrate to the music-listening world that pop isn't pap, that the genre still has plenty of vigorous life left in it and that bubblegum shall not prevail. The CD is in the finishing stages and should be trotting out for public consumption soon. All the writing is complete except for vocals and synth parts.
Harris finds the emotional material for his music from the real-world experiences all around.. That is where the integrity of his finds its root in Harris' insistence on drawing from TV-off reality rather than the plastic fantasy world of some pop beacons. Life, emphasizes Harris. The relationships that occur between people are the main basis for my writing.
Harris is a songwriter who looks around himself and draws the marrow from his specific circumstances and translates it into general truths, expressed by way of his compelling pop compositions. The beauty in music is its intangibility, says Harris. It is one of the few human creations in the world that brings us together, yet we cannot even touch it.
When Harris' very tangible CD release Tell Me hits the venues, A&R Select will be there to facilitate his path to success. Jon Harris' music touches a chord, one whose resonance is shared by everybody. It's why his songs are so accessible but enduring.
