Waniac / raised Mahia, Manurewa south Auckland brings to you an inside of the struggles and everyday life, racism and hatred, hopes and dreams that a young pakeha (white) boy from the low lows (rewa) went through and along with this, developing a sense and style for hip hop/rap music. “It took me ages to find my style” waniac tells a significant story about any young boy’s dreams of becoming a musical superhero and “straight” just being accepted. My music is anything for Cars, Money, Selling, Bitches, loved ones and everyday garbage that we all see in the world today. “Since I was like 18 I’ve written about 30 songs and recorded them, listened to them, re-recorded them again, listened again and still didn’t like them. Then one day 2006 just chilling out, I started writing another song and my style came to me. Finally it started making sense to me and now my music just pours on the page. “It’s almost like I had writers block for years and now ive found “waniac” it just flow. I grew up listening to mum and dads music such as- stevie wonder, shaft, phill collins, pink floyd, gladis knight, the temptations and most of motown jams. i used to pretend i was a rapper from about the age of 8. my first rap was about shaq oneal. I think my mum still got it somewhere.
