Technically, I am not a band. I am a lone musician who has made the most of his recording software and small collection of instruments to record track over track to layer enough voices to get the sound of a band. That is, at least, my hope.
Me: I started in 5th grade on trumpet, which I still play. Freshman year in high school, I bought an ac/elec guitar. I started writing folksy songs on the acoustic (they were quite terrible, I assure you). Later that year, I purchased a Gibson SG and started to get into more rock-type music. I continued to write, and my music began to improve a little. I used a recording program I downloaded for free online (Audacity) and the puny mic that comes with any standard pc desktop. End of my sophomore year, I began to accumulate bits of higher-quality recording equipment, and that summer, I made many purchases, which completely changed the sound of my recordings for the better. Since then, I've been using that equipment and writing and recording.
Nope. I'm strictly a private homestudio recording artist.
Snow Patrol is awesome...I own a couple of their albums and love all of their songs.
I also listen to Bowling for Soup. Porcupine Tree has some cool stuff as well.
I also listen to Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, the Wallflowers, Jimmy Eat World, and some other assorted alternative artists.
a TASCAM US-224 interface, a Rode NT-1A condenser mic, a PreSonus Preamp, an electric YAMAHA keyboard, my SG, a 65w Fender amp, and, of course, a Pop-Blocker!
Nope.
