Anthem for a Generation Anthem for a Generation

This a simplistic song with a repetative drum machine part, a stark, hauntingly beautiful guitar line and angst-fueled lyrics about feeling lost.

Experimental

Nothin is permanent, and nothing EVER stays the same, except death. Everything grow and changes over time, and every living thing eventually dies. Everything happens for a reason -- even if the reason is never understood. No two people experience the same thing in the exact same way. To every thing there is an opposite: good/bad, heaven/hell, etc... Music is first and foremost about artistic expression, everything else is secondary. No one style is sacred, and style is open to change at any time. There is no longer any such thing as an original sound. These are not songs, these are experimentations. There are no beginnings or endings, and listening is only the beginning of the journey...
Band/artist history
The Glorious Super fantabulous History of Firehose Connection From an early age, I, Gabe Gott, was exposed to all kinds of music, and it all really spoke to me on a very deep level. In junior high I began to write songs and learn to play the bass and the guitar. In high school and in the first part of college, I was in several mostly unknown garage bands. At some point I started doing the whole singer/songwriter-Bob Dylan-folkie thing and, after my last band broke up it became my main thing. After a few years of doing that and feeling slightly frustrated with the limitations of it, I picked back up my first love, the bass guitar, and began to experiment. The three-track demo, Insomniac, was recorded in September/October 2006 in a completely spontaneous and improvisational manner, using the equipment that I had available at the time. These experimentations Nightmare, Memoirs of an Insomniac, and Bad Dreams (Are Made of These) were originally intended to be parts of a much longer concept album, which was primarily influenced by Pink Floyd, the Books, Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Captain Beefheart, and Frank Zappa. However, the psychedelic/spoken word/ambient album never grew past longer than the three tracks. In November 2006 the songs were posted on Myspace and, much to my surprise, people began to respond very positively to them. The project, which by then was officially known as Firehose Connection, was asked to play shows at Bela Dubby in Lakewood, Ohio, and at Mocha Dreams Café in Rocky River,Ohio (the latter thanks to Starvation Army Zine). I realized that it would be somewhat difficult to recreate live what I had recorded, so I came up with an entirely different approach for my Firehose Connection shows. I began to use primarily a combination of bass, amp, modeling processor and drum machine, and my sound developed into the psychedelic/noise/drum n bass sound that it is today. Firehose Connection, the project that had originally started as a side project, has become more popular and better received than any of my other projects, and the demand for public performances continues to increase. Currently, I am working on Firehose Connections first full-length album, and I am looking to book more shows.
