Scene: San Francisco's tenderloin district, circa 2001. In an apartment four floors above the street, the are clinking bottles in a toast to a successful show at a nearby venue. Among these drunken yet doe-eyed boys are Chris (aka "") and . Outside, a man smashes Wu's car window and steals two guitars and a bass. In an instant, the band disintegrates; but that's what you get for being too loaded to keep an eye on your instruments., her bass, and her dazzling array of weird instruments.. He's very lonely, and carrying a guitar. He's invited in. shows up the next week with a violin in her hand, and for some reason, she keeps coming back. arrives that same day, with a keyboard, her singing voice, and a dream. (as the band is now known) is coming together. Only one piece remains. is walking by the practice space one sunny afternoon when he hears the sound of six musicians smashing a drum machine in frustration. "If only we had a real live drummer!" the band yells in unison. Matt's eyes light up. meets meets . Or maybe crossed with and ? vs. ? ? play an exciting new blend of and . Drawing on a diverse background of experience (members have been in punk and metal bands, a cappella groups, choirs, and orchestras, to name a few), TOFW endeavor to create something new, and something fun. And how is the response to their new sound? One person (who may or may not be in the band) has described it "awesome", "amazing", "totes the next Radiohead", "sweet", and "and by sweet i mean totally awesome". Sounds good to me.
