Hip Hop General

Bayo (pronounced bio) glows of originality, character, joy, swagger, and style, as co-author of the brilliantly penned classic 450+ page Hip Hop self-empowerment book written side by side with his cousin Arnett K. Powell The Hiphop Driven Life: A Genius Liberation Handbook! he has paid enormous dues, especially with the number of rave reviews of The Hiphop Driven Life: “The Hiphop Driven Life highlights spirit, self-mastery and knowledge of history as foundations for sparking and maintaining greater consciousness in the Hip Hop community. This comprehensive handbook is a jewel in the pantheon of inspirational and Hi p Hop literature.” DuEwa M . Frazier , Publisher and Editor, Check the Rhyme: An of Female Poets & Emcees (Lit Noire Publishing ) http: // www.litnoirepublishing.com How many emcees had a Solar Eclipse on their 19th birthday? Solar Eclipse’s only occur, about ohhevery 100 years!! With his latest newly released DOUBLE CD bayogenesis, August 11, 1999 solar eclipse (The Hiphop Driven Life E-book and bonus, video, photos, and exclusive data, and the bayogenesis mixtape as the 2nd CD) entitled it is obvious that being a unique individual is the story of Bayo’s lifeno pun intended. The man has always been on some outside the box type s*^@! With songs like “Numbas Don’t Lie” Bayo is upholding the self-empowered swagger of godlike emcees, he takes no shorts to his masterfully articulated raps. The best emcees are professional artists who study their craft, and Bayo is one of the best. Born August 11, in 1980 he’s been schooled by the supreme emcee masters of our time as a student of rap’s golden era, and ain’t no half-steppin in expressing his outspoken charming voice as an emerging Hip Hop leader in this new millennium digital age music revolution. Very few have embodied the tenacity, passion, heart and soul of Hip Hop artistry, essential to the nature of this genre-pure self-knowledge expression- more than Bayo. With a graphic artist mother, and an African English professor father, he was born to rhyme, growing up in Huntsville, AL the first Hip Hop tape he remembers rockin’ in his walkman was Fat boys Crushin’ at age 7, and he was immersed in Kid-n-Play, BDP, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Digable Planets, Guru, A Tribe Called Quest, Michael Jackson, Prince, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obe, Fela Kuti (Ju Ju music and African music). As a youngster writing raps and stories in elementary and middle school, yet he took many twists and turns in his epic journey as a super star. He’s lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Washington D.C., and Maryland. Growing up in different places, he doesn’t just rep one locality, with friends, fans, and family all up and down the east coast, and overseas he’s aiming for national and international rap supremacy. After making his pilgrimage to Hip Hop Mecca (New York City), currently living in Queens, buildin’ in the Bronx, parlayin’ in Brooklyn, and politickin’ in Manhattan, it was destined that he would shine, and continue to expand his music, multimedia, books, and O.L.O.R.U.N. “Our Love Of Rap Unites Nations” branded merchandise globally. In fact, his talent is unbelievable for the short time he’s had to split between business, writing books, and music, he only started seriously resurrecting his rhymes at age twenty-one, after dropping out of two different colleges, to pursue his lyrical passions. To sum it up with one of his song titles, Bayo is essentially “Olu Iwa” which means Lord of Character in his father’s native Yoruba language. bayogenesisAugust 11, 1999.solar eclipseis a double CD/Ebook highlighting the last two years of Bayo’s life as a self-published author and emcee, and the music is an eclectic vibe of sounds including classic hardcore street beats, samba soul, latin jazz, afrocubop, afrobeat and jazz rhythms. It includes inspiring lyrics, noteworthy social commentary, some industry promo tracks, and original production from his cousin and co-author “Divine” Arnett K. Powell, as well as never heard before songs and verses from their recordings as duo “Nightjohn,” which they formed while completing and publishing The Hiphop Driven Life now distributed through www.afrikanworldbooks.com Bayo is a force to be reckoned witha soulsonic solar force. ! "The Hip Hop Driven Life is very well researched and well thought out, taking you through it's pages with a no non-sense approach to L.I.F.E (Living In Fear of Extinction) from the eyes of a genre of music that will last and past the test of time." --Professor Griff, Hdqtrz Digital Studios, Minista of Information and Leader of the S1W's:Public Enemy- Having absorbed direct insights from personal interactions with Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Mo Dee, KRS-ONE, Big Daddy Kane, and Doug E. Fresh, one cant ignore this absorber, listener, and relentless student of Hiphop Kulture. This second generation Yoruba, born in 1980 and raised in various cities between Alabama, Tennesseee, and Virginia, migrated to the D.C. Metro, and simply goes by the name Bayo, and is scribing his rhymes in history, while blazing a trail at light speed to establish O.L.O.R.U.N. - Our Love Of Rap Unites Nations an international organization to unite Hiphoppas worldwide for the purpose of promoting self-mastery, self-empowerment, and raising the quality of life for all people in the International Hiphop Community. The objectives: Health, Love, Awareness, Wealth, Peace, and Prosperity!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Did a few songs at The Village Underground, rappin over a live band was real cool. Performed at the University of Maryland and Bard College and other colleges all over. I also was on BCAT T.V. once I finish my solo album I'll be touring more.
Your musical influences
Some say I'm conscious or positive or whatever. I'm a consciously living man. I make music that represents the movement of my soul. Sometimes I like beats that are really inspiring or soulful, other times I like that are raw and agressive. Regardless I'm a lyricist so I'll always be pushing the boundaries lyrically. My influences are Fela Kuti, Samba Soul, I like Wyclef Jean and Outkast. My top favorite emcees are KRS, Rakim, Nas, AZ, Jay-Z, Kanye, Lupe, Common, Talib Kweli, and Mos Def.
What equipment do you use?
my mind, my heart and my voice.
Anything else?
A lot of people wonder how I balance writing and recording etc. being that we wrote "The Hiphop Driven Life" I consider it a blessing and a gift that I always read a lot of books when I was young so I never had a problem expressing myself on paper. The music was just second nature, I think it's just part of my natural genes from Afrika. As far as business everyone should keep an eye open for my company O.L.O.R.U.N. Records International which stands for "Our Love Of Rap Unites Nations." We plan on putting out a lot of multi-media products and services to help people live out their dreams and a higher quality of life financially, mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially. One love.
