Paediatric Burn Ward is my solo work. Even though I've played in a variety of bands ranging from the punk rock shite of Firestorm right through the complete mess of Total Fucking Darkness, I've had my solo work. I have to have something to call my own. You know how the saying goes - "if you want something done right, do it yourself". So that's what I've done here. That's why I play, record, edit and produce every aspect of the music (barring the inevitable guest appearances of course). I've gone through several forms of music, as I've been fucking around with it since I was twelve (the intro to the song "The Operating Theatre" is a piano piece I recorded when I was twelve, and at the time was the outro track for a CD I did when I was in a band called "Sean DJ & Flex O" - haha!). I've even ventured towards dance / chill out under the name The 2:20 Project.
But that was the past. This is now. This is what I do now. I'm not really an angry person underneath, but everyone gets angry at things, you can't deny it. And everyone needs a healthy way to get thier anger out. So that's why I now make angry music. And the angriest music I know is grindcore. The songs are often short, sharp, and totally in your fucking face! Mix that with gorey / porno influences and you get the extremely obscure (and unknown) genres pornogrind, or goregrind. To the untrained ear, all sub-genres of grindcore (even grind itself) is just a mass of noise. Is that MY fucking problem? No. If you don't like what you hear, don't listen to it. "X" this page and forget I exist.Have you performed in front of an audience?Another reason why Paediatric Burn Ward is not normal is because I do not play live with this act (at the moment anyway). This helps to find people who really want to get into the music, and also stops the arselicking-me-in-the-toilets-after-the-show-and-then-never-giving-a-flying-fuck-afterwards factor from becoming present. Also, i can't play every instrument myself at once. And to find people skillfull enough to execute the music correctly let alone be interested in it would be impossible. So why can't it be normal? To be normal it would go against who I am totally. So no. Would you drum for a racist band full of skinheads if you had strong beliefs in anti-racism? Would you become a member of Slayer if you were a by-the-book Christian? Thought not.
