David Bruce Whitley was born in Washington D.C. on November 12, 1968. He began singing at the age of 4 in his home church. He then attended The Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts for high school. Upon graduating, he moved to N.Y.C at the age of 17 where he received his Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. He then went on to receive his Masters of Music from the Juilliard School of Music. He has toured extensively all throughout the United States and Europe with the Boys Choir of Harlem as a soloist. He has also toured with the New York City Opera National Company in their production of the Barber of Seville. David has been on stages throughout the world from Broadway to Germany, where he has sung the role of John in Miss Saigon in Stuttgart. He then went on to perform at the MäulesMühle. David has also taught vocal lessons at the New York City Dance School in Stuttgart Musical Projekt: Gesang. David has had many recording artists in his studio including: Usher, Harry Connick Jr., Boys Choir of Harlem, DaNaCe, Joy Denalane, Thomilla, Fantaschie Vier, Freundeskreis and many more. David was the vocal coach for The Boys Choir of Harlem for 4 years before performing with Miss Saigon, where he continued to be vocal advisor. David has performed with various bands all over the world. Including Fresh and Cool, The Freedom Family under the direction of the Rev. Lee Brown, just to name a few. David can be currently heard on Thomilla's latest CD Freeze.
