Cosmic Stuff To Think About, Cosmic Rock To Play LOUD!
Blasticus Rex is the name of my ongoing project.
Cosmic Hard Rock at it's best.
I created this project in early 1995, and it is ongoing.
Band/artist history
I have been playing guitar for over 45 years. Was inspired by seeing ZZ Top in 1976, before they got all cutesy with their MTV videos. They were a supercharged badass high-energy blues rock band, and after seeing them I walked out of the venue knowing what I was going to do with my life. Bought my first electric guitar one month later. Have been playing ever since.
Played in numerous bands in the 80s and 90s that went nowhere. Recorded when I could afford to, which was not often. Slowly learned about songwriting and production.
A friend loaned me a Tascam 688 8-track cassette mixer/recorder in 1995, saying I could borrow it for as long as I want. That was when I first was able to have the time to produce some real demos of my material.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Am not playing live at present. Love playing in front of people, but am in writing/recording mode only for the forseeable future.
Your musical influences
My music (to me) sounds like a mix of Led Zep, Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest, Michael Schenker, with a touch of Metallica thrown in for good measure.
Blues-based Classic Hard Rock and Metal from the 1970s and 1980s.
What equipment do you use?
Prefer Gibsons through Marshalls. Main axe is 1989 Gibson Flying V with EMG pickups, played through my 1979 Marshall 100w Super Lead Stack.
