The youths have it. Combining equal amounts of rock, pop, jazz, funk and a dash of hip-hop, Candid Daydream cooks up a catchy gumbo that anybody can feed on.
Think Ben Folds, Dave Matthews and George Clinton having a drink at Ani DiFrancos place. Candid Daydreams originals pair an irreverent wit reminiscent of Barenaked Ladies and Elvis Costello with a passion that hints at Pink Floyd and Guided By Voices. The band has also covered a wide variety of artists including Weezer, Stevie Wonder, A Tribe Called Quest, R.E.M., The Beatles, Motley Crue, Marvin Gaye and Outkast. Since its inception in 1997, Candid Daydream has plowed to the forefront of the Central New York scene, and has shared the stage with the likes of national acts including Vertical Horizon, Local H, and SR-71, as well as overseas acts such as Ben Lee and Moke. With the party-like atmosphere of their performances, Candid Daydream appeals to a youthful, energetic audience that represents a profitable market for live music. In the past three-and-a-half years, the band has assembled a loyal local following that thrives on an unspoken connection that seems to exist between the members of Candid Daydream and their fans. Along with the music, its Candid Daydreams oh-so-approachable attitude on stage and off that keeps people coming back for more.
In less than a year, the band has independently sold upwards of 1000 copies of "The Soma Project," their demo CD, and is currently in the process of recording a follow-up album, as-of-yet untitled. With youth on their side, Candid Daydream constantly strives to give each fan a performance worth every dollar and shows no signs of slowing down.
