My starting point is quite simple: any sound can be used as a musical element; everything depends on the context in which it is situated. So, the challenge is to find the method of combining sonic elements from different sources (noises and FXs, musical melodies and harmonies, elements of ethnic music, natural, synthetic and processed sounds...) in a coherent manner. Therefore what is pursued is the result of that combination of different elements between each other, not the development of any of them saparately. According to the process employed, many times my mentality as composer is closer to that of a painter than that of a musician, and the work could be understood as a kind of musical painting.Band/artist history
Jose Carlos Mac is a composer with classical training and wide experience in different musical fields. For the last fifteen years he has worked on a freelance basis composing music for publicity, television documentaries and series, and soundtracks for feature, short, animated and experimental films. Ha had also specialised in background/ambient music, having composed for de '92 Barcelona games as well as the Seville Expo and for the exhibitions of some visual artists.Have you performed in front of an audience?No
