I'm a musician by trade, I play keyboards/piano, but I also write music, make beats, and write verses - vocal, rap, and spoken word.
I grew up in Decatur, GA. I took classical piano lessons as a child and eventually started learning to play songs that I heard either on the radio or on tapes and CD's lying around the house. I started making my own music in middle school and I started discovering stuff like Rhapsody, RecordLab Studio, Fruity Loops, Garage Band, Reason, Finale and recently Sibelius. Fruity Loops, or FL Studio has been my program of choice to this day, though I did make a few beats that I liked on Reason while I was in Memphis, and I do use Sibelius to write a lot of arrangements. Out of High school I went to University of Memphis for 2 years, studying Jazz, and now I'm at Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, TX.
I've been playin wit my band called SoulKitchan in the Austin area for over a year now, (that's where I'm going to school). I've also so played at some venues in Memphis, like on Beale Street a few times, and in Atlanta but I have yet to be steadily booked at any one place.
Dungeon Family (esp. Ceelo Green and OutKast), Organized Noise, DJ Paul & Juicy J, the Neptunes, Dr. Dre, Mannie fresh, Lil Wayne, T.I., Ludacris, (as far as with lyrics and beats). Also Stevie wonder, James Brown, Tower of Power, Musiq, India Arie, D'Angelo, Kindred Family, and Alicia Keys just a lil bit; Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, Antonio Carlos Jobim + Brazillian music in general, Bob Marley + Reggae in general, Quincy Jones, and Nujynisis, and Keelyn Ellis. (as far as with R&B, soul, and Jazz). I also have a few classical influences like Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Scriabin, and Tchaikovsky. I try to just listen to as much music as possible.
FL Studio w/ Sound Fonts and drum kits that I download, Yamaha P-120, Studio Projects B1 condenser mic, a Roland VS-840EX mixer.
I rest my case.
