Derick always knew he wanted to be a performer. At the age of nine he started his singing career, first in public school, then in high school. While in High School his grandfather taught him how to play the guitar. Now he was a singer and a musician. He went on to study acting and theatre in college, along with visual arts and dancing. True to his Spanish, Mexican, and African heritage, his talents are just as eclectic as his cultural background. Born a twin in 1981, Derick took most of the creative genes from the gene pool and was born into the world with diverse talents. He also took the gene pool of good looks. His dashing smile, sweet voice and gentleman ways will woo any woman. But what got Derick discovered was his sweet disposition and pop star potential. Hailing from the lone star of Texas, Derick found himself in New York after kicking around in college studying everything from TV broadcasting to fashion and design. It was time to move on with pursing his dream of becoming a singer and of one day being America’s Pop Sensation. It didn’t take long before Derick had landed several gigs in New York with spots in TV commercials like Tele Mundo, Principal, Channel 43, and V.O.C., along with Radio spots on KJMZ/100.3 and JAMZ. Derick was on his way to his final destination - a career in singing. Derick started hitting the hot spots where all the young and aspiring artists hang out hoping to interest some manager, or A&R person. Performing throughout New York, Derick held audiences captive in night clubs like Nells, Village Underground, Perks, Studio 243, Soul Café, The Supper Club and continued his performances in venues such as the Black Expo 2004, Long Island University Talent Search and even auditioned for American Idol. And then it happened, he landed himself a production and recording contract with a New York based production and recording company. They took one look, listened to his demo, and were ready to sign him. Could it be that his grandmother’s physic visions of his becoming a Pop sensation around the world are now becoming a reality. D.Mor is primed and ready to make pop history with his first release “Contigo”. Will it help him ride to the top of the chart? Only God knows (or maybe his grandmother), but if not then surely his good looks and multi-talented genes will get him by. Dashingly Handsome, with a sweet disposition, Derick is sure to find success, whether its music, acting or dancing, success is just something waiting to happen to this cowboy from Dallas. “My love for music is what keeps inspiring me,” states Derick as he flashes that “I’m gonna make you faint” smile and then starts to croon his favorite song “Sailing”, its enough to make you swoon. Expect to hear more about this Erban KowBoi who rode in from Texas with nothing but talent, talent and more talent.
