Brit Pop

We are a 4 piece (soon to be 5) Britpop band writing our own original material. Influences include Oasis, Paul Weller, Coldplay, Ocean Colour Scene, The LA's & Hurricane ..1. Idlers are Tony Burrows (Guitar/Vox), Tim Burrows (Rhythm Guitar) Ryan Spencer (Lead Guitar) & Jon Stainer (Bass). The band formed about 4 months ago as something to do on a Sunday Afternoon. We practice in the Local pub when we can, and record in Ryans home studio. Musically, we consider ourselves to be a Britpop/rock band. The sound is raw, & passionate with tight guitar playing yet rough around the edges, rock n roll. The music and sound is inspired by 90's Britpop such as Oasis, Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Verve & Hurricane ..1. We are writing our own music, but are performing covers at our gigs until we have enough original material.
Band/artist history
The idlers story Tim knew Ryan from primary school knew he was a good guitarist, was at college doing music Tech and wanted to join a band so Tony, Tim and Ryan formed in early 2005. Knowing all they really had was a group of friends jamming, they set out creating a band. One day after college, Tony came home to say hed found us a bass player in his class called Jon - Tim. They now knew they had the beginnings of a band! So they headed off to the local pubs & clubs just getting to know each other, going to gigs and tribute acts to see how it was supposed to be done and set out to do it better! They found a drummer in the form of Danny Hall who was a new kid at the local cricket club Tony & Tim played for. They got practicing in the cricket club bar on Sundays when it was closed. And eventually realised the drummer resembled Oasis' Tony McCarol - he couldnt drum!, and so did the only thing they could and sacked him. They set out to start gigging as a four piece acoustic act with no percussion and a array of mellow covers. They scored their first gig on Christmas Eve 2005 where they played 2 sets on their own stage to a small village crowd of about 50 people (most of which were their friends).
