Chadsko are one of the top original unsigned bands in Ireland growing from strength to strength since February 2005. They are a 6-piece band from Derry that create sweet catchy funky toe-tapping acoustic sounds that just make you want to shout, YEAH!, not to mention their use of beautifully toned 5-part harmonies. They have evolved from being an ordinary pub band into a fully fledged, professional and polished musical act, capable of impressing any audience and encouraging any age group to swing and sing, do the Chadsko thing.
Their sound conjures images of summertime, even on the coldest of winter nights (Juliann Campbell- Derry Journal)
Their fiery and hot sound certainly warmed up the crowd, and practically everyone I met agreed they rocked a seriously funky set.
(Pat-Scot Graham- Liverpool Student Newspaper)
Being at a Chadsko concert is like being at a summer street festival
(Stephen McCauley-BBC Radio Foyle).
The 6 members of Chadsko are: Denis McLaughlin (acoustic guitar/vocals), Caolán McLaughlin (piano keyboards/backing vocals), Ryan ODoherty (guitar/vocals), Oisin Cannon (electric guitar/vocals), Paddy Danagher (bass guitar/backing vocals) and Scott McGettigan (percussion).
The distribution of duties within the band is not only admirable, but desirable, in an age where the standard formation of singer- then band reigns supreme. They change face for every song, reinforcing the depth and breadth of their talent.
(Robert Macintosh- Belfast Beat Magazine)
Since reaching the all-Ireland final of the Global Battle of the Bands contest in November 2005, Chadsko have proved beyond a shadow of doubt that they can hold their own when performing alongside the greatest unsigned bands in Ireland. Such is their widespread popularity in the city of Derry, its no wonder everyone in the audience seems to know all the lyrics and sings along to every song. Trumpet player, Linley Hamilton (toured with The Commitments, Van Morrison and did studio work for Paul Brady) has also performed along side them and Bruised Fruit Promotions, based in Belfast have taken huge interest in promoting Chadsko.
The band wowed audiences in February 2006 in Ballymena so much that they earned themselves 1st place in the Ballymena Battle of the Bands and to top it all off they have just recently performed alongside 13 of the most elite bands in the North of Ireland in the Northern Ireland: Next Generation band showcase which took place in London at the end of April 2006.
Chadsko receive great reviews in the local papers and radio play regularly; they even got a great review in the Liverpool student paper after playing there in October 2005 and in the Belfast Beat after playing one of their few gigs there in March 2006.
Their debut 5-track EP, Catchin Myself On was recorded, mixed and mastered by them all, with special consideration going to Paddy Danagher (bass player).
Listen out for the outstanding Risky Business, composed and sang by Ryan O Doherty, a unique song that will some day make him his fame and fortune.
While youre listening so intently, take time to notice the catchy brilliance of Denis Mc Laughlins Government Slave, which tells the tale of life working hard all week so you can blow your money at the weekend on whatever takes your fancy.
(Juliann Campbell-Derry Journal).

Chadsko music began in the bedroom of Denis McLaughlin (rhythm guitar/vocals) from Derry. He penned a few upbeat catchy rhythmic songs that his friends just went wild for. This gave him the incentive to catch himself on (theres even a song about it), so he ventured back to school and began a Popular Music course in the North West Institute of Further and Higher Education (NWIFHE) in the year 2000. Part of this course entailed that the student had to be in a band with fellow class mates, so Denis got together with 6 other students to create sweet toe-tapping melodies. They took the first letters of all their names to form the band name, CHADSKO.
They performed throughout the 2 years of the course reducing to 4 members in the second year. After the course they played the odd reunion gig due to demand up until they halted in 2004.
However, with a bit of discussion the band formed again with 2 of the members from the original line up and another 4 adding to it giving Chadsko the 6 musically strong members that the group consists of now. These are Denis McLaughlin (already mentioned), Caolán McLaughlin (piano keyboards), Ryan ODoherty (guitar/vocals), Oisin Cannon (electric guitar/vocals), Paddy Danagher (bass) and Scott McGettigan (percussion).Have you performed in front of an audience?Chadsko have played gigs in:

Your musical influences
Chadsko are influenced by many musical acts and find it hard to pick just a few. They have been told in the past that their music is like fusing Bob Dylan with The Doors. The great thing about Chadsko is that every song holds a different surprise for the audience. Other talents that Chadsko have reminded people of are, the Choral, Belle & Sebastian, Dodgy, the Magic Numbers, the Zutons and the Jam etc. In general, Chadsko dont like to think of themselves as living in the shadow of other bands; they are the beginning of something beautiful. What equipment do you use?
Stage Piano/keys-2 acoustic guitars-1 electric guitar-bass guitar- drum kitt- 5 vocalsAnything else?
