UK Asian Rapper.. KERFEW aka the Mathematician..

Born and bred in Leicester, UK, Kerfew started his music career at the tender age of 7 playing Tabla and Naal at Navrati Festivals with his Father. Having a passion for Music he took up the Trumpet at 8 and the Violin at 9 through his Primary School.
As he grew older he started to get into the urban scene listening to Local Pirate radio stations to catch the latest Music. One of his mates at the time and local radio presenter invited him to his show to answer calls,
Kerfew went along and one day was given the opportunity to cover a show for an absent DJ. He was the offered graveyard show but eventually worked his way up to hosting the Prime time Weekend Shows.
After Djin around various clubs around the UK, Kerfew became a father, got a job and prioritised his life to a family one.
After 4 years out of the music scene, Kerfew decided it was time to get back into his love but this time started to focus his efforts on Rapping and Producing. Alongside his childhood friend and fellow rapper Maze, MIC was formed. With the beats now being made by Kerfews younger brothers, MIC and Kerfew have evolved to producing some ground breaking Hip Hop tracks and are in the process of a 12 track Kerfew Solo Promo.Have you performed in front of an audience?Not yet but defi looking at doing some in 2006..
Your musical influences
I would regard what we do as Hip Hop, though our influences range from Classical, Motown, Asian, Funk, drum and bass and basically any other type of music I havent mentioned. Rapping wise I look up to people like Nas, Big Pun, Jay-Z and Kanye West. In the UK, I check for Klashnekoff, Kano, Karma and Raxstar.What equipment do you use?
Cubase, Reason, Midi Controller, MIC, Soundcard..Anything else?
I put a lot into my writing and read up on subjects that I may not know enough about. I try to keep the lyrics clean where possible as I feel I do have a responsibility to the people who listen to my lyrics.
