yes, we have played live-- on radio (AM, FM, Public, Internet,) television (internet, local, network,) and venues such as: coffeehouses, theaters, festivals, regional fairs, restaurants, lounges, house concerts, libraries, hotels, the street... you name it...throughout the USA, at sea, and on European tour, (we're energetic!)and will continue to do so. We both love being on the road. Special moments? Sure... too many to name them all... It was an honor to play a road tour to the Walnut Valley Festival (home of the National Guitar Championships) in Winfield, Kansas, in order to play live there after sweeping their annual songwriting contest in three catagories. We seem to have strange happenings when we camp. Once Denise's tent was battered by a storm big enough to fell nearby trees, but remained, later, as one of the few left standing in the campsite at the Mountain Stage New Songs Festival in West Virginia. Another time camping, the sound of a very nearby pack of coyotes making a killing in a cow pasture lasted for an entire night! We went on to play admirably the next day! We love performing, particularly for intimate, attentive audiences. The small, up close and in your face venues are probably the most pleasurable for us.
The influences are far and wide... ranging from rock, folk, singer/songwriters, to jazz and blues...We are into subtle musical effects and unusual harmonics. Denise's songwriting dominates the set list, though there are many covers, too, tailored to each audience.
Believers in emerging technologies, Denise mainly plays the RainSong WS1000 Graphite cut-away acoustic guitar, and Daniel's instrument of choice is a 1986 Ken Smith BT Custom 'G' VI contra bass guitar featuring a neck reinforced with carbon-graphite composite, which he plays through a modified SWR amp.
