J.BULLY, aka Robi Roberts, is that “Hailey’s Comet” kind of artist. Born in Raleigh, NC, Bully has spent most of his adult life in Atlanta and the Detroit area, but is finally back home in NC living in “Murder” Durham. He “came up” freestyle battling, deejaying and performing in local talent shows. He played football & maintained excellent grades from the first time he picked up a mic in grade school, through his graduation from Atl’s Morehouse College. That’s rightJ.BULLY’s intelligent, too! Without a major label budget or access to “traditional” independent rap label funding sources, J.BULLY (then known as Jugga The Bully) was still featured twice in (the now defunct) BLAZE MAGAZINE & competed as a heavy crowd favorite in the first Atlanta BLAZE Battle hosted by Outkast. With NO political help, he won the 1st SOURCE Magazine Unsigned Hype MC Battle in Atlanta, judged by Goodie Mob, & he rocked an industry-only crowd at the first SOURCE MAGAZINE UNSIGNED HYPE Finals in NYC. Since his 1st commercial releases in 1999, J.BULLY has maintained a constant presence in the hip hop underground, in addition to creating a buzz within the mainstream industry. His independent singles have played in several major markets, including Atlanta. J.BULLY is collaborating with top hip hop producers in both the US & Germany. He has produced professional radio commercials for Smirnoff Twist & the U.S. Census 2000. He has rocked clubs & stages in North Carolina, Georgia, New York, Michigan, NC, Alabama, & Florida. And, J.BULLY competed in front of millions on BET’s 106 & PARK FREESTYLE FRIDAY! (Feb. 7, 2003) Staying true to his EDUCATED THUG status, J.BULLY continues to find opportunities to use his talents, most recently taking a position within the Music Department at DUKE UNIVERSITY where he teaches a Hip-Hop/Rap Music Appreciation class amid his busy recording schedule. With ever-increasing exposure & an undeniable street & radio buzz taking hold, the question isn’t “Why listen to J.BULLY?” The question is: “Why NOT listen to J.BULLY??” Even if you don’t, someone else IS. It’s on you...Have you performed in front of an audience?I rock the mic every chance I get homez. 106&Park even tho those haters robbed the boy-boy.
