Recording artist, and production studio denizen Evan Price is a burgeoning producer of fresh hi-fi nu-jazz compositions. Alternating progressive rhythms and driving beats, accompanied with original melodic expressions and down tempo excursions... the sound he describes as "Hard Lounge".
Both as a solo artist and with special guests, Evan crafts productions constructed from both virtuous perfomances and innovative sampling. He offers groove laiden arrangements ranging from heavy roots dub reggae, to boogie infused R&B. Exploring a variety of musical elements, from occult Afro-Cuban folklore, and Brazilian Jazz to world electronica and dance, Evan offers selections inspired from a diverse range of influences.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Putting together the right musicians to perform the material I've composed presents a unique challenge.
Your musical influences
Hard question to answer. Everything is potentially an influence. Growing up in philadelphia, the raidos were saturated with R&B and Soul stuff.
When I was 10 I loved prince, and tom petty.
As an adolescent I used to skate ramps to Iron Maiden and Vilent femmes.I've been into alot of different stuff over the years.
As a teenager. I tended tward classic rock, Hendrix and the Grateful dead. 70's funk, the beastie Boys and various hip hop...
Nowadays I can't identify too much with any one Genre. I still Listen to alot of reggae, dance hall and dub music. But ive been obsessed with all forms of Brazilian music. From the roots of Bossa Nova Jazz, and Samba, and all forms of world music and electonica, and raregroove. Can I stop?
