Born on Halloween in 1975, NoDoze barely made it past his first few days of life on this crazy earth. Him and his mother sick from an exhausting 29 hours of labor, he lied in the ICU, clinging to life from an infection caused by the prolonged birth. With the fight and willingness he still has today, he made it through and is here until the Lord finally does extinguish his light. Around 1983 and '84 he was turned on to hip hop, way before it was cool to listen to the music that he loves. Way before these teenagers heard their first 2Pac song and all of a sudden their gangstaz. Hes lived, breathed, and died for the music ever since he heard that first break beat on a Fat Boys or Run DMC record. This was his calling, his love, his passion. FastForward to 1989, where in 7th grade he finally put the pen to the pad and constructed his first rhyme"Ima Hoodlum". Simplistic in nature but raw in content, friends and others loved the verses and still talk about them. FastForward once again to around 1999, when he finally got some studio programs for his computer and begin to construct beats just as raw as his first verse he wrote. HardCore street beats that banged out of friends and others trucks and rides. He took on the moniker of PaleRidah, his first hip hop name, and the name that would fit the street image he had become. He made an unrealsed album that was untitled and just handed them out to whoever listened. As he got older and wiser, more songs came to the light, and were recorded, scrapped, passed out, whatever, but the change had begun. Is this what he wanted to represent?? Guns, knives, killing, blah blah? Nah, that wasnt him. Yes, he had been a hustler and one of the biggest drug dealers in his city. Yes, he had robbed houses and other shit as well. He ran with gangs(Never joining cuz he thought the idea of colors was stupid), but gathered up a police record that was pretty thick and long listed. He is the streets, but he wanted the music to be more real, and original, and talk about stuff EVERYONE goes through. He wanted to touch everyone on a level they all understood. From partying, to women, to their kids, to our lost loved ones. and just everyday struggles on the outside and within. Finally the birth of NoDoze the MC was here. Writing, Producing, and performing his own tracks, he became a selfcontained unit in the game. Still overlooked and unsigned, he plunges forward putting out the music he loves for others to hear, and with that love and admiration for hip hop and its culture running through his veins. His day is coming, its been a long time coming, but it will soon be upon us. The doors will finally open for one of hip hops original soldiers. Here, I am proud to introduce you to and bring you NODOZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I have done a few songs at the bar I DJ at, but nothing major yet. Just mostly getting everything perfect and ready to go before I jump into it all.
Your musical influences
Where do I start. I like so many artists I cant even name them all. I like alot of diffrent artists from all diffrent kinds of hip hop. I love Kanye West and Outkast, and my boy Eminem for starters. Jay z, Biggie, Snoop, Scarface, Big L, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and definately props to the old school where it all began. I used to love some Cool C, the godfater himself Rakim, Kool G Rap, Tribe, to many to name, Run Dmc, ummmmmm, I basically like anyone original and hot, there is just to many to name, I own over 1200 albums, so thats tells ya right there I am a hip hop head. As far as producers, ya gotta give it up to Kanye, Mannie Fresh, the Neptunes, Scott Storch, Timbaland, and most definately the kings from the East and West, when it comes to producers on each coast there no match, Dj Premier on the East and of course Dr Dre on the west.
