Band/artist history
The ease and confidence with which they play is a rare gift and shows real potential for success. The songs have some great catchy grooves and the riffs are divine. The incredible vocal talent was effortlessly delivered with su ch a natural flow that its easy to see that these guys are headed for greatness. Theres a smoothness to Diamond Lils performances thats rarely seen and which stands out a mile." - Jenny Tate / Saturday Rocks! Rhubarb Radio "Knowing that their influences are bands such as Led Zeppelin, ACDC and Alter Bridge should give you a good idea of what to expect from them: perfect guitar riffs, head-banging beats and quite frankly excellent vocals." - Renee Wilkins / www.blog.musicovered.com "Its hard rock, or as they describe it on their Facebook, EPIC hard rock. Bluesy, funky riffs, soaring vocals, warm and crunchy guitar sounds, and bags of groove. This is headbanging music, whiskey swillin music, driving too fast music... Gotta love it." - Oli [Live Unsigned] / www.liveunsigned.com Diamond Lil are a hard rock group from the Midlands, birthplace of Rock and Heavy Metal, in the little industrial city of Wolverhampton. The new version of the band was formed in 2010 by the combination of pervious members Harry Colley [Lead Guitar] and Jamie Downes [Bass Guitar] coming into contact with Midlands hard rock singer, Ellis Wilde. Both forces having extensive footing in the industry inside the West Midlands within their own rights in various bands and projects. The combination of Colley's bluesy, hard rock riffs, Downes's rhythmic input in creating musical artistry and Wilde's lyrical prowess and powerful vocals, the three definately knew they were onto a winner. The three then began working on some new songs to take the band into a new year with a new direction and a new hunger to become a force in the Midlands music scene. 'The Lil' then enlisted their first drummer Daniel Holyhead to take up the sticks, entitling them to the name and acclaim they then received afterwards. Having recorded the first half of their E.P 'Misfits of Society' with the prestigious midlands recording studios MADHAT, the group have performed a plethora of gigs around the midlands; The Robin 2, The O2 Academy 3 [Emma Scott Presents nights], The Slade Rooms, River Rooms, The Roadhouse, just to name a few. Unfortunately the band had to part ways with Holyhead due to commitment issues and disputes on the bands future. They needed someone with an ultimate drive to take up the reigns and be available to rock the world over whenever they needed. This then lead to meeting current drummer Austin Miller, whose sheer mastery of the drums gave the lads a new lease of life all over again. The 4 are now set to finish their E.P after making their music video for 'BOTTOM OF A GLASS', a midst adding more dates the copious amounts of gigs they already have all over the country. Watch this space, because Diamond Lil will smack you in the face.
