Coughlin's Law is the name of a project headed by me, Brian. I write some songs, get other people in to work with me on them and then I record them.
I come from Glasgow, so all the songs have a heavy scottishness to them. I like to make a song sound like the meaning.Band/artist history
As a project it's been going for a long time, you can get a look at all the blogs and stuff on the myspace to see what's been going on day-to-day for the past wee while - www.myspace.com/coughlinlaws ..Have you performed in front of an audience?When I was in my first year at UniI was out smashed with a mate from Uni and a mate from my School days, we went to a open mic in the Strathclyde Uni Bubble Bar, I don't know if it's still there, I played Forever and I got a stand-up from the crowd, it was the first time I'd ever played live and it made me want to do this for the rest of my life. My physics degree went out the window not long after that.
Your musical influences
Ambiant music at times, folky and mellow at others, can be pop and alternative rock, it's whatever the song needs to be... can't really explain it more than that. I hope that it means something to the person that listens, whether they make out all the lyrics or make them up as they go along, it should be more of an expierence than anything else.What equipment do you use?
A Shekter guitar, lots of Pro Tools, a JD800 synth, an old battered Piano and and some old battered Drums and a tangle wood bass, I've got a 32x8x2 mackie desk and 002 as well as all sorts of other toys and shit.
