Ivo da Ivorylion - I'm a Canadian-based Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Reggae, Jungle, DNB, Tribal and Downtempo producer. I write mainly beats for people to use and occasionally my own full tracks with lyrics.
I work with a lot of different musicians and vocalists and do reasonable prices for up and coming artists. I graduated from a Sound Tech program and have now started my own Music & Sound production company - Lion Sound. I've been making Hip-Hop beats for 5 years, profesionally for 3. Jungle and Reggae tracks and vocals for about 4 years. Although writing songs and lyrics in general since I was 12, progressively more and better at 18. Goin strong today writing all of the above genres and more other types still. Named our Jungle cru JAL (Junglist At Large) in process and progress of becoming a new Toronto True-Jungle label.Have you performed in front of an audience?So far I've spun and vocalized a couple parties in local bars and at our own private house parties. It's a great experience, especially when more new ppl to your crew come and check out what you're doing.
Your musical influences
Lots. True music is felt when noticed right away. I am mainly inspired by artists like Bob Marley, UB40, Steel Pulse, Jimmy Cliff, Lucky Dube, Sizzla Kalonji, Buju Banton, Beanie Man and an endless selection of names for Reggae; Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Deftones and many more from Rock; Congo Natty and Jacky Murda's Chopstick Massive Sound for Jungle as well as the whole army of new-school-Ragga-Jungle-sound Souljahs I will mention in the Jungle profile. As to Hip-Hop it's a wide influence of artists like DJ Premier, Mobb Deep, Dead Prez, Wu, X-Ecutioners, Cannibal Ox, Tonedeff, Common to Peanut Butter Wolf, DJ Shadow and the Quannum Crew, People Under the Stairs and big respect to Dr.Dre, Kanye and Timbalan as the top producers these days.What equipment do you use?
Any equipment I can get my hands on. Good consoles, good mics, good racks and software. You have to have good gear to get top-notch sound. I like using Protools, ProLogic 7, Cubase, FL Studio .. yes FL Studio - it's so versatile itz da bomb .. and Soundforge for wave processing.Anything else?
what can I say .. the hip-Hop beats are HOTTT .. all artists lookin for beats, hear some of these .. I got plenty to go around n like I said I'm willing to give you a reasonable price for a beat if you really want it. I write in lotsa different genres and can write a beat in-studio while you're writing the song. E-mail or phone me.
