Band/artist history
Having been resident dj at the legendary Hippo Club for three years he built his skills on the decks from watching and playing alongside the superstar DJs of today. They all know him, they have all had him warm-up for and take over after them and they all know he does the job well, whatever ever the style of guest and whatever the time of night. Jimpy is the co-promoter and inspiration behind Wales biggest and best weekly dance event initially starting out as Enter The Dragon and then changing name to ROAR. This club night is presented every Friday in Wales last remaining 1500 capacity underground venue. Djs that Join Jimpy week in and week out include, John Kelly, Scott Bond, Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes, Fergie, Guy Ornadel and Rob Tissera to name just a few Further info on ROAR can be got from the www.r-o-a-r.co.uk web site. Production-wise, it all kicked off for Jimpy when his 'Talkin' single for Whoop! was featured by Sasha on his 'Global Undergound - Ibiza' compilation. Six of the most favourite tracks on the Sasha compilation hit the streets again in 2002 on a limited edition triple pack vinyl package. Jimpy was one of the featured artists ! Then came an EP being signed to Deviant and recently Paul Van Dyk included Jimpys Feeling Good track onto his Ministry Of Sound Mix The Politics of Dancing compilation. Signed to Whoop, Deviant, Southeast Recordings, Dorigen and more recently Breathless and Star 69 in New York it can be said that Jimpy continues to only work alongside respected and quality labels. He has remixed tracks for organisations such as Multiply (as Jimpy & Wolff) and was featured on the soundtrack of the Hollywood box office smash, 'The Beach' with Voices Late in 2001 saw the release of Jimpy's debut DJ mix CD through Soundworx, Southeast Recordings' new DJ mix session series. To be asked to launch a brand new mix series is in it self a huge feat having to set a standard for the overall concept of the series. The finished mix in years to come will be a collectors piece and the album is sure to solidify Jimpy's growing reputation as one of the new forces in British dance music. Known for both his percussive & progressive early sets and his mind-blowing twisted hard trance sets; Jimpy is one of the new breed of DJs in line for major league status over the coming months. A Major step-up was acheived after publication of DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs for 2000 where he crashed in at an amazing #54 on the back of his residency at the Dragon, disproving the theory that the chart is a set-up!! As the second Welsh Music Awards approached Jimpy was nominated for not one but two DJ awards. Best Trance DJ & Best Progressive House DJ. Remixes to watch for in early 2003 Jimpys tough re work Victor Simonelli Do you feel me on Mountain Records Jimpys mix of Everyday Downers Believe feat LENNY KREVITZ on Pangea (San Diego) Jimpy & Frys ROAR Remix of Daniel Baileys Paint It Black Jimpy & Frys ROAR Remix of Sosumi Your not Alone + The new original Jimpy track Winter Featuring Annia - a hypnotic progressive journey Besides all of the above Jimpys Internet radio show re launches on April 16th as it moves to Thursday nights allowing him to carry on with his djing commitments over the weekends. http://kbps.offitsface.com Things look good for Jimpy in 2003!
