Invisible Art

Definetly a new way of bass playing. Psychedelic, progressive, innovative...absolutely strange!

Instrumental Rock

This is not a band. This is me. I actually play in many prog-metal and rock bands, but this is my personal project. Songs that I play with my unique instruments (7 strings or 6 strings mirror mode basses). For further details please go to http://xoomer.virgilio.it/invisibleart
Band/artist history
I've been playing the bass guitar for 12 years, but I define myself as an "atipical bass player". Yes, because, since the beginning I never took into account the idea of playing just to "take the time" and do the rythmic base of the songs, or at least....not only. My way of playing is a bit particular, let's just say inusual, at least in Italy. I play the bass guitar as if I could have in front of me the possibility to play every existing instrument in the world and I try to pick up from my basses their true soul(and mine too) through every possible form and colour, which aren't always those, well expressed, of the mighty bass players such as Jaco Pastorius, Stu Hamm, John Patitucci ecc. I play in a different way...that might also not be appreciated! But that's the way I am, and I can't and I won't change! When I studied, many years ago, I felt tied to the old rules of the walking bass of the Sixties, to the modal stereotypes, to the linear bass lines of the useless bass players we frequently see or listen...Quite early, after 3 years of study, I begun to play in a few bands, playing different genres, trying to experience different situations growing up my skills and expertise, creating my pesonal and unique way pf playing. As I said I'm a bass player that doesn't care about the statdard rules and especially that doesn't want to play backside the others! Among my favourite bassists there are Billy Sheehan, even if I don't love the music he played in the early '90, he's absolutely a giant! He's capable to give a tremendous energy and groove to those fucking 4 strings! Then I'd say Trey Gunn (innovative and mastodontic!), Tom Kennedy, Rufus Philpot, John Myung and Stu Hamm. I go on reminding the mighty Tony Levin, he has really changed the history of the bass, as a few years before did Jaco. Then there are bassists unknown by most of the people (and the musicians too...) that play in a really incredible way! They're Sean Malone (Gordian Knot), Michael Manring and Bill Burke. These guys play in a really absurd way, using loops, tapping, overdubbing etc. very frequently playng song only with the bass, and without other instruments! I really like their way of playng music and one of the next future projects I'm working to this to do something like them!
