Delivering lyrics like a finely-tuned rap machine, Bishop Black, explodes on the Urban Avenues Entertainment single, High off the Life and underground club joint, "I'm Focused."
High off the Life features Bishop Black along with label mates, NevaTD, Shawn Snow and Big Gator. The song also features smooth vocals from Stepchyld recording artist Nick Eden of the R&B trio, Y-NOT.
High off the Life is currently on the Law and Disorder soundtrack which features such hits as Coming from the South, Pimpin, Money is the Struggle, Im Focused, The Realist, No Problem, Wont Do, Criminal Minded, Let Us in this Bitch and many more. The soundtrack was produced by Shawn Iceberg Lacey and Timothy T-Erv Ervin. It features a variety of artist including; Shawn Snow, NevaTD, Big Gator, Tamillia, Lil Poet and many more. It was released on Urban Avenues Entertainment.
Earlier, Bishop Black introduced his swift southern flow to the hip-hop scene on the landmark single, VIP, performed by Stepchyld recording artist Nick Eden. Though inspired by West coast and East coast artists, he remembers merely listening to their lyrics.
He recounts, "I always had a tight flow, but it's like I didn't have a foundation. I was more about being political.
During the time between the two singles, Bishop Black says he added substance and focus to his style by patrolling the gritty landscapes of his Mississippi / Alabama backwoods. He recognized that the only way to survive the bleak surroundings was to immerse himself in it and shed some sort of light.
As he explains it, After I went off to college, I came back to the backwoods and just started applying the lessons I learned about the business and writing structured songs to things that were going on in the community, and everything started to seem much more real.
Finally with his solo project, The Young Apprentice, still in the works, Bishop Blacks transformation is almost complete. His raps reveal emotions ranging from ecstasy and joy to sadness and pain. In this country urban grit he creates musical paradise from poverty's riches.
