The Wicked Farleys

Layers of intricate guitar and keyboard tinkerings, melodic drone, driving volumes and heartfelt vocals create the dreamy soundscape which is The Wicked Farleys. Their sudden tempo changes, stop-on-a-dime pauses and broad use of dynamics are played with such musical talent and precision that they are often labeled the millenium version of the 70's prog-rock bands Rush and Yes. Coupled with the strong pop sensibility of a Swirlies, Versus, and My Bloody Valentine and you have the "collage-rock" style of The Wicked Farleys. The Wicked Farleys (named after a notorious family from their hometown of Fitchburg,MA) started as a one-off party band when Ken, Rob(both 14) ,and Michael B. got together to learn a few covers and simple punk-pop influenced originals lyrically concentrating on gym teachers, neighbors, and stupid classmates. Two years and many bass players later they settled down with Michael Cory and moved to Boston. After the 7-inch Ken Theory and the full length Sentinel & Enterprise, they recruited Vanessa Downing (a founding member of the now defunct band Samuel) to make their live sound more representational of their full and layered studio work.
