"WHICH ELEMENT ARE YOU?" LISTEN TO ELEMENTAL EXPRESSIONS & FIND OUT!!! 3rd DAY (((SOUND))) 3rd DAY Sound is a production project spearheaded by Will “Mu” Moultrie that evolves around a collective of fellow fringe musicians, vocalists, & lyricists. A journeyman of sorts, “Mu” has traversed genres with stints in a progressive hip-hop outfit, the Blackeye Click (1994-2000); a conscious neo-soul band, StreetSide Revival (2002-2003); and an alternative fusion band, Gullyvah (2003-present). All of these beautifully educational experiences have brought the Elemental Expressions project to fruition. ELEMENTAL EXPRESSIONS Elemental Expressions, as a concept album, is a step away from the current trend of homogenized fusing and “mash-ups” of rock, jazz, reggae, & hip-hop. Instead, “EE” is an attempt to delve into these genres individually at unique angles and present them in a more refreshing fashion. Deriving the concept from a love of science and nature, each “element” represents a particular genre of music: Earth (Rock), Wind (Jazz), Fire (Reggae), and Water (Hip Hop). As in nature, each element is an independent and formidable force; but when working in conjunction with one another, they make up our very existence (musically, that is). The Elemental Expressions Compilation Album is a sample of all these elements together in one space, for the eclectic listener. “Earth” includes jam rock and bluesy alternative offerings from Gullyvah, RCO, and members of A-fir-ju-well. “Wind” showcases the jazzier neo-grooves of Mu Sol 3 (Will’s production alter-ego). “Fire” is an introduction of Iboutu Jean-Baptiste to the masses with his mix of Creole, Reggae, and Afro-Beat. And “Water” brings us back to some lyrically-driven “head hop” (hip hop strictly for the “headz”) with the likes of E.T.C.T. (Everybody That Came Through). These are the core players in what will no doubt be an ever-expanding roster of polyphonic pioneers. THE FUTURE 3rd DAY Sound currently has single and remix releases in the works for each element, scheduled for Fall. All singles will be released simultaneously to their respective markets to hit listeners with 3rd DAY’s “Shock and Awe” campaign. These future flavors include: “2nd NATURE” (Earth), “Life Moves On” (Wind), “I Wanna Love You” (Fire), and "S.L.A.V.E." (Water). These offerings are a prelude to full-length albums for each element that will be sold separately or as a box set (for the truly renaissance music lover). To promote this eclectic effort, 3rd DAY will be scheduling performances and joint-gigs in the Southeast region with Gullyvah, RCO, Dead End Kidz, Iboutu Jean-Baptiste and various members of E.T.C.T.; beginning in September. Stay tuned to the website and e-announcements for further details. Again, thanks for the support and let’s keep the essence of real music alive for the next generations to grow on, and not degenerate. In the meantime, keep your head up, your ears open and try and figure out, “which element are you?” PEACE
