Route ‘76 is comprised of Bernard “Mega-V” Wisdom a.k.a "ZOW" and Nahgeib “Nags” Miller, a creative and dynamic duo in the vocal arts. The group was formed in 1997 on the campus of the University of the West Indies, where Nags and ZOW were reading for degrees. Since then they have been training, rehearsing and performing all in preparation for their inevitable international musical debut. Some may ask why forsake promising postgraduate careers for an unpredictable future in the music industry. The answer lies in their intense love for music and their desire to make a lasting impact on music history. What makes Route ‘76 unique is their interpretation of various musical genres from a Jamaican perspective.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Playing live is the real pay off. There is nothing like performing in front of a mass of people that appreciate the music that we have spent so much time on. Probably the most memorable performance to date has been the Miss Jamaica World elimations Show 2000. Reason being Reggae Dancehall would never be considered for such a formal event, the mere fact that the crowd loved us made it a very beautifull experience and gave us hope that we could make dancehall into a strong acceptable genre of music.
Your musical influences
Bob Marley, James Brown, Biggy Smalls, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Basically we are influenced by artists from all genres of music, Rock, R&B, Reggae, Pop, Soca, Hip Hop you name it.
What equipment do you use?
A lot of our music is done with synthesizers but there is always some amount of live instruments.. hopefully in the future most of our music will live.
Anything else?
The 'route' that we travel is never easy and we never take the easy way out. All our fans appreciate this fact and we love the fans as much as we love the music. Those who listen our music share our lives. Check out our web page a www.route76music.com
