As they prepare to conquer Manilas rock scene by storm, this musical foursome is the hip and latest musical act to grace the stages of the countrys dissident milieu. They are collectively known as TriggerBliss, an experimental rock/alternative/ska band that aims to bring about some ecstatic emotion to their core audience through their gift of music. This group of young twentysomethings namely guitarist Patrick Co, vocalist Bliss Mabini, bassist Jayson Khonghun and drummer/percussionist Jonathan Co form the elusive band.
They have cited influences ranging from the heydays of 80s glam rock music of GnR and Skidrow, and folk rock crooners Joni Mitchell and Indigo Girls, rock legends Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin, to the ubiquitous U2,pop/rock chameleons No Doubt and numerous jazz artists as inspirations to name a few. Brilliantly integrating the past and the present with their signature style of music, TriggerBliss range of songs is vast. In addition, they have are no strangers to the local music scene as lead vocalist Bliss Mabini mentions legendary Cynthia Alexander as a major influence in the bands formative years. Their diversity in musical repertoire greatly reflects their knowledge and passion for music.
Often belting popular and classic tracks from various artists, TriggerBliss knows what the crowd wants as their loyal followers uncontrollably yet harmoniously belt out songs together with the band as they play track after track. Incorporating some angst-driven tunes from the likes of Fiona Apple then later singing some mellowed out song from Sting and brilliantly following it up with a folk tune from Natalie Merchant, the band knows how to please their assorted audience. Moreover, they dont alienate themselves by restricting their set solely to foreign artists as they sing original compositions that can rival their foreign counterparts. Only a handful of bands can ingeniously incorporate their own songs in the midst of the plethora of tunes polluting the nations
music scene. They offer more than just your ordinary blas music selection that one can readily listen to over the airwaves. People in the know know their music and TriggerBliss is no exception. Our generation of music aficionados is a discriminating bunch and this band knows how to whet the populaces musical appetite with some fun and great music following their mantra Its all about the music baby, its all about the music.
Being relatively new to the Philippine music scene does not intimidate them in any way simply because they offer something new and exciting. In a world dominated by well-crafted bubblegum pop and insanely monotonous rock acts that adhere to the majority and record execs dictates on image, popularity, choice tracks and record sales, TriggerBliss is your fundamental non-conformist. They simply sing to their hearts content and it evidently shows their passion for music is clearly visible (and audible, for that matter) and theres no stopping them now.Band/artist history
