Firstly, please note that even though this song may be sung in archaic French, it is not a French song. It is written by Josquin des Prez, a Flemish master of renaissence music. The song was written to be sung at the funeral of a duke, who he knew very dearly. To hear it sung by a choir, is rather disturbing. Originaly the song was written for 4 individual voices. A choir cannot reach the purity of the high notes as sung by a "contra-alt". But the quality of the sound of this choir is amazing to me, even remarcable. All the voices seem to be linked together in nearly perfect synchronisation. Still, the meaning of the song is deeply ignored. It is meant to touch the individual grief buried inside everyone and therefore it has to be sung in a way most un-theatrical, preferably sober. Nevertheless, a great achievement for a choir to be able to sing it as if it weren't a choir.

To Up Choral group, there's no denying your abilities in singing, you're all good! But what about the credits of the people who composed your songs, have you ever given them due credits?I can't see any credits anywhere, or just reference to any of them.Andok888 is right to say about R-E-S-P-E-C-T. I didn't graduate in UP but I can see somethings lacking here.respectfully Dan Laygan

You have to choose the songs you sing or adapt your singing to the song. How about specialising in a certain genre? Every piece obviously comes from a different period, and within the period there are several styles as well. To treat every song as an opera piece does not show artistic integrity or respect for the composer.

I really love the choir, hope you can share the choir piece of "HIBANG SA AWIT" and "MAY BAGONG UMAGA", Im currently a member of Saint Andrew's Parish Choir in Parañaque, and way back 1970s our choir and UPCC had a great relationship accrdng to our moderator and choir conductor, Ms. Odelia Cruz and the late Francis Dandan, until now we use to sing "I Believe, Ave Maria" and I gues it comes from UPCC...anyways thanks for the wonderful song...Godspeed and Goodluck to ur future concerts....

Alasdair: Thank you thank you! We are all very excited to go back to the Aberdeen Festival next year. That festival is very special to the UPCC and it is always an anticipated stop on tour! Next year will be so much more special because some of the original members of the UPCC who were first invited to the Festival are coming to sing with us! So the Alumni and the current members will be there to give you two different eras of music, and of course a slightly different sound... but both uniquely Filipino! Again, can't wait!
