I used to play guitar professionally, but have been inactive for a number of years. After recently hooking up with some guys I used to play with long ago, I've decided to get back into music. This "band" is primarily my own experimentation with learning all the new tools of the digital age, and exploring where my creative musical tastes now lie.
I used to play live all the time. One favorite memory is when we were playing an outdoor gig on a loading dock facing a huge flat parking lot. At one point a circuit blew, and everything went out except for my Ampeg V-8 stack. Now our drummer is a very loud drummer, even without mics, so him and I spontaneously went into a 15-minute improv (we were both heavily influenced by similar solos of Steve Morse and Rod Morgenstein of the Dixie Dregs). Eventually we got a thumbs up offstage that the power had been restored, we nodded to each other and the entire band went back into the chorus of the song we had been playing and finished the song to thunderous applause. I love those moments.
Just getting started building my studio. I have Pro Tools LE with an Mbox, a PODxt, and Reason.
