The Conscious Daughters are undisputedly one of the most prominent female rap duos in music. Most known as the Bay Areas hottest female group, the Daughters (CMG & Special One) have sold over 800,000 records worldwide. They exploded on the scene with Fonky Expedition, which officially put CMG and The Special One on the map, with their debut album, "Ear to the Street" selling over 300,000 copies and yielding a cross-country tour. With three singles and three videos from that project, The Conscious Daughters had finally gained national recognition for their skills.
Their second effort, Gamers was released in 1996 and sold over 200,000 copies, entering the Billboard Chart with a bullet. By continuing to bring bangin beats to the streets, TCD once again rocked the world with their female baller anthems.
Their third album, The Nutcracker Suite, was released in 2009. Featuring themes of self-empowerment and sisterhood with a hardcore edge, The Conscious Daughters continue to prove that they have their collective thumb on the pulse of the street. With production by the Bay Areas hottest producers, Paris, Rick Rock and Steven King, The Nutcracker Suite is packed with head-noddin beats that compliment TCDs in-your-face style of rhyming. A necessary compliment to women, this crew of female MCs provides a sorely-needed female perspective in hip-hop that rarely gets the attention it deserves.
In 2012, CMG released, The Jane of All Trades. Continuing on the path of lyrical greatness, CMG delivers a well-seasoned flow over beats by the Bay Areas 2010 and 2011 BAPC beat battle winner, Poetiq Beetz; the crafty sounds of Steven King, and Philadelphias underground production gem, KMTLE. With appearances by Keith Murray, Mistah Fab, and Truth Hurts (to name a few), The Jane of All Trades satisfies your appetite for real authentic hip hop.
In 2013, The Conscious Daughters will release their final album, Dirty December, after the passing of member Special One in December 2011. CMG will carry on the torch and deliver the album to the masses featuring production by Rick Rock, Paris and Poetiq Beetz. This upcoming album is sure to give you one last taste of vintage Conscious Daughters! R.I.P. Special One. For more info, email ConsciousDaughters@Gmail.com
