Band/artist history
AMBOY: Well, Jhe and I was the oldest buddy on the group. It was way back April '95 when I was introduced to Jhe by a common friend and we jammed at their house. We tried to arrange some of my songs and we did came up with pretty cool acoustic versions of my songs. About a couple of weeks after, I met Milo at our "tambayan" in our village, he was just new there but he acted like he already knew the blokes there..hehe... I find him to play guitar quite good so I introduced him to Jhe and we had a couple of jams and we've arrange his songs. But there's one problem though, we all play guitars, we don't have anyone to play drum, bass or keyboards. So we did find one drummer and Jhe's bro Jhun played the bass. Cut long story short, we stopped jamming for a while. JHE: Oh yes, we were the oldest buddy. I guess the reason why we stopped playing on our first band was because we're still not ready by that time. So I just focused on my school and plays on my church band and learning new guitar techniques. I was really eager to get good on my guitar. So I still see to it that I have my regular practice by myself. Then Amboy and Milo get back to me with a drummer, Klienne right? MILO: Yeah, that's right! Becuase while I was on school, I met a drummer, his name is klienne and I dragged him to a studio along with Jhe and Amboy, by that time Amboy was already learning to play bass. JHE: So the rest is history until now that we formed this band. Let the other guys tell the rest of it, it'll collaborate all of it I guess... hhahaha.. MILO: It went good for a while but Jhe has to finish his course so he decided to cool it off for the mean time. But Klienne, Amboy, and me still tried to form our band and I posed as a lead guitarist, we attempted to go to Japan, we had a female vocalist(Cynthia) Hmmmm... something about her.. well that's another story.. ahahahahah. Then Amboy met his old childhood friends Boying and Bobot, both are shredder guitarist influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen. So we jammed with them and Klienne was our drummer. We had a gig at La Union and wow pretty sweet memories. And then... you go ahead Melvin. MELVIN: Haha, so what happens is that I think Klienne went to a Military academy so I became their Drummer... I'm pretty not good in words but i'll try ok.. Before that I already had a band and we were already playing around Metro Manila, so i would say that Mike and I was the most experienced musician here.. wahaha.. Well kidding aside, i met Milo and Amboy at this B-day party when they hired my drum kit but ended up hiring my band because there's no one there that could even finish a damn song.. eheheh.. Well i'm not kidding that's true. So Amboy and Milo was really impressed with my rare talent and plead on their knees for me to join their band, then I said ok after i met their guitarists with both having flashing fast hands. So what we did is that we've joined a number of Band Competition with our original songs either written by Amboy or Milo and we never come home empty handed. But after our last gig which did'nt go well, the band been discouraged and we stopped practicing, not to mention Milo not going to our rehearsals. It's your fault mate! MIKE: Hmmmm... I did'nt know those stuff, I enjoyed it. Well my side of story, I've already have a couple of gigs with my band before and we're doing good but for some reason we stopped playing after not being successful on attempting to go overseas. So I decided to push through my goal by myself, I met Milo at this promotion office, and they were looking for a keyboardist. Cut story short, Milo got Melvin and Jhe on the band so I met the two. Jhe and I became close from then. So our band(no Amboy yet) played some cover songs and our goal was to go overseas but that did'nt materialised. What happened next is that Milo and Melvin joined this popular defunct band Yano or Pan, and Jhe and I joined another band as well and played on out of town gigs and still wanting to go overseas. Then all of a sudden Milo asked me if I want to reunite our band plus a new bassist(Amboy) which was already an old friend of all of them except me, so I said ok. The new goal this time is to arrange our songs as a radio friendly songs so I guess that's how we came out to be.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We used to play live.. like at Padi's Point, Hard Rock Cafe, and some bars in Manila.. But we think the most special one was when we had our last jam at Red Damien studio when Milo is already leaving for New Zealand the Next Day!
Your musical influences
all of us has different influences I think... like Jhe's Influence is neo-classical like Malmsteen's, Mike here is more of like the jazz ballads, Amboy is neo-classical and funk-jazz as well,Melvin is Prog-jazz and Funk, and lately into Punk, Milo is more like of a listener and just fuses our influences together cause he mostly wrote songs...Also Amboy and Mike!
