Band/artist history
Since forming in 2003, SENATE has established itself as a dominant force in Canadian Metal. SENATE are leaders of a growing pack of young, talented heavyweights to emerge from a suddenly thriving Canadian metal scene, ready to bear the flag and carry it into the future on a global scale. All veterans of the Canadian Metal scene, SENATE's 5 members- Matt Di Franco (Vocals), Jay Siebert (Lead Guitar), Jay Hudson (Rhythm Guitar), Keith Gillam (Bass) and Pat Hamelin (Drums) possess the talent, experience, vision and creative fire required to create and execute such vicious demanding music. SENATE combine Thrash, Black Metal, Melodic and Progressive Metal to forge an ultra-aggressive, hook- laden style of their own. On Dec 17 2006, SENATE independently released its full length debut album 'The Great Northern Scenekill'. The (self-financed) record was recorded at Silo Studio in Hamilton, ON with Producer Julius "Juice" Butty (Alexisonfire, Protest The Hero, Cancer Bats). The album was mastered at Antfarm Studios in Denmark by Tue Madsen (Rob Halford, Lamb Of God, The Haunted). The album contains eight sonic slabs of masterfully executed metal. No quantizing or sound replacement was used in the creation of 'The Great Northern Scenekill'. In June, 2009 SENATE will return to the Silo with Julius Butty once again at the helm to record a new EP, entitled "In The Kingdom Of Gods". The EP will contain 4 new songs. The band hopes to tour the remainder of 2009 and in early 2010, record its full-length follow-up to 2006 "The Great Northern Scenekill". Senate has been featured in several magazines including 'Metal Maniacs', 'Unrestrained!', and 'Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles' who named 'The Great Northern Scenekill' as one of the top 3 independent albums of 2007. Senate has also received generous amounts of airplay on several internet and college radio stations, as well as extensive coverage in many webzines across the world.
